Pınar Tözün

Associate Professor at IT University of Copenhagen

 

Pınar Tözün is an Associate Professor at IT University of Copenhagen. Before ITU, she was a research staff member at IBM Almaden Research Center. Prior to joining IBM, she received her PhD from EPFL. Her research focuses on performance characterization of data-intensive workloads, and scalability and efficiency of data-intensive systems on modern hardware. She received a Jim Gray Doctoral Dissertation Award Honorable Mention in 2016. During her PhD, she also spent a summer in Oracle Labs (Redwood Shores, CA) as an intern. Paul D. Rosero-Montalvo

His research focuses on emerging microcontrollers to run machine learning models in decentralized networks. Earlier, He was a research assistant professor in the  Applied Science Department at the Universidad Tecnica del Norte (UTN), Ecuador, for seven years. At the same time, he was a part-time lecturer in the TI Department at Instituto Tecnologico 17 de Julio, Ecuador. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Salamanca in Spain in November 2020, where Prof. Vivian Lopez-Batista advised him. He has a master's degree in Data Management systems from Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas ESPE, Ecuador (2018), and an Engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from UTN (2013).

Ehsan Yousefzadeh-Asl-Miandoab

PhD fellow at IT University of Copenhagen 

 

Ehsan holds a masters degree in Computer Engineering - Computer Architecture from the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran.

His primary field of interest is Computer Architecture, narrowly parallel computing systems and energy-efficient designs and their application in Heterogeneous Systems.

Currently, his research focus is on Resource-Aware Data Science. He is working under Prof. Pınar Tözün’s supervision. His Resume is available from here.

Vanessa E. Alvear-Puertas

PhD fellow at University of Salamanca 

 

Her bachelor's degree in Electronic and Telecommunication engineering at Universidad Técnica del Norte, Ibarra, Ecuador. She obtained her master's degree in Telecommunication at Universidad Técnica del Norte. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department at the University of Salamanca. Her Supervisors are Prof. Vivian López-Batista and Ph.D. Paul Rosero. In the industry, she was head of the IT department of the Ecuadorian Health Authority in Imbabura-Ecuador from 2017 to 2022. Her research lines are computer vision, edge and cloud computing, and hardware acceleration.
